Puerto Morelos recently completed a full upgrade of its Módulo de Atención al Visitante (Visitor Services Kiosk), right in the heart of the Casco Antiguo.
What Is the Visitor Services Kiosk?
The kiosk is a staffed information booth operated by the municipality's Secretaría de Turismo Sustentable, the Sustainable Tourism Secretariat. It sits inside Parque Fundadores, the main town square in the Old Town, steps from the fisherman's pier and the famous leaning lighthouse.
It offers official tourism information, bilingual Spanish and English guidance, and direct assistance to visitors. Think of it as a local concierge, without the hotel price tag. The module is open every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The renovation was announced by Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz on June 28, 2026. The upgrade was not just a fresh coat of paint. Local artist Flavio Añasco painted a new mural on the space, inspired by the Parque Nacional Arrecife de Puerto Morelos (Puerto Morelos Reef National Park).
The artwork adds color and personality to the kiosk, and gives visitors a real sense of the town's character before they even start exploring. Mayor Tziu has said publicly that strengthening spaces like this is part of a broader strategy to make Puerto Morelos one of the top destinations in the Riviera Maya.

This kiosk was actually the first of its kind in the municipality's history when it originally opened in November 2023. Before that, there was no official, dedicated space to help tourists navigate the town.
Parque Fundadores itself has its own story. The square was officially renamed in March 2021, as a tribute to the founding families who carved Puerto Morelos out of the jungle. The name honors those early pioneers who built this community from the ground up.
