Puerto Morelos has something big to celebrate. The local Reef Rescue School has just been named an official UNESCO Blue School.
This a huge honor that recognizes its outstanding work protecting the coral reef right in our backyard.
What sets Reef Rescue School apart is how students and the whole community get involved.
Kids don’t just learn about the reef, they roll up their sleeves for beach cleanups, test water quality, and see firsthand how their choices affect the ocean.
Families join snorkeling trips to experience the reef up close, and community workshops help everyone become better ocean stewards.
Even when developers tried to buy up the land for hotels, the town stood together to protect the school and its mission.
This UNESCO recognition proves that when a community cares deeply, it can make a real difference.

Cancún International Airport has taken major steps to improve the arrival experience for travelers by significantly reducing immigration wait times.
Previously, visitors often faced long lines that could stretch for hours, especially during peak periods or when multiple international flights landed at once.
Issues like limited staffing, confusing queues, and unreliable e-gates only added to the frustration.
Now, the airport has managed to cut average wait times at immigration checkpoints to under 20 minutes, making the process much faster and less stressful for both domestic and international arrivals.
Alongside these changes, the airport has introduced free Wi-Fi in the immigration area, allowing passengers to stay connected while they wait.
Information and services for international travelers have also been enhanced, making it easier to navigate the arrival process from landing to entry.
These improvements are part of a broader plan to keep the Mexican Caribbean a top destination, ensuring that visitors receive a warm welcome and a smooth start to their stay. Read More... |
