Weekend Weather

🌤 Friday, August 22:
Partly cloudy and hot — High: 34°C (94°F), Low: 25°C (77°F)
A thunderstorm could pop up in the afternoon, but most of the day will be steamy and bright. Hydrate like you mean it!

☀️ Saturday, August 23:
Sunny and sizzling — High: 34°C (94°F), Low: 25°C (77°F)
Classic Riviera Maya weather: lots of sun, a few clouds, and heat that’ll make you question your life choices if you forget your hat.

🌤 Sunday, August 24:
Mostly sunny and hot — High: 34°C (93°F), Low: 26°C (78°F)
A little more humidity, but still plenty of sunshine. Perfect for the beach, unless you’re a snowman.

Weather Tip:
🤠 Don’t let the heat fool you—clouds can roll in fast, and a quick tropical shower is always possible. Bring a sun hat, and maybe a backup shirt if you’re planning to salsa dance your way through the afternoon.

The Jungle Brewery You’ll Brag About!

Pescadores is a craft brewery tucked into the jungle, pouring clean, crisp beers made without shortcuts.

The IPA has bite, the Mango Blonde goes down easy, and rotating taps keep things interesting.

It’s the ideal post-cenote cooldown: dusty sandals, cold pint, and relaxed conversation.

Staff are happy to set up a sampler and talk through the styles, and there’s space to linger.

Late afternoon recommended for cooler temps and a lively taproom.

Cerveza Artesanal Pescadores
Open: Mon–Sat 11:30 AM–7:00 PM; Sun 11:30 AM–5:00 PM
Location: Ruta de los Cenotes, ~10 minutes from downtown Puerto Morelos
Admission: Pay-as-you-go tastings and flights; prices vary

Insider Tip: Ask at the bar if they’re pouring anything “off the board.” Pescadores often has a pilot or small-batch keg that isn’t listed yet, especially late afternoons on Friday or Saturday.

Portside Perspective

"Puerto Morelos reminds you that sometimes, the most extraordinary experiences are found in the quiet, unassuming corners of the world."

~ Condé Nast Traveler

Insider Tip: Taxis

Taxis in Puerto Morelos operate on a zone-based fare system, meaning prices are determined by your destination rather than a meter.

Always confirm the fare before starting your trip by asking, “¿Cuánto cuesta a [destination]?” (How much to [destination]?)

It’s also wise to carry small bills and coins, as drivers may not always have change for larger denominations. They do not take cards, cash only.

Tipping is not mandatory, but rounding up is a nice gesture for good service.

There are drivers who speak fluent English. Ask locals to recommend their favorite driver and get the Whatsapp number. Then you can schedule a pickup with ease.

Local Matters

Travelers heading to Cancun can now look forward to a smoother arrival experience, thanks to a new Uber service at Cancun International Airport.

For years, visitors were frustrated by the lack of easy Uber access at the airport, often forced to walk off-site or pay high taxi fares.

This inconvenience led to many complaints from tourists who just wanted a simple, affordable ride to their hotel or resort.

Now, Uber has introduced "Uber Reserve" at Cancun Airport, allowing travelers to book their rides in advance—up to 30 days before their trip, or as little as two hours ahead.

With this feature, your driver will wait for up to 60 minutes after your flight lands, giving you plenty of time to collect your luggage and exit the terminal.

The price is shown upfront when you book, so there are no surprises. This new option promises to make arriving in Cancun much easier and less stressful, especially after a long flight.

💡 Answer to Trivia Question:

Ya’axché refers to the ceiba (sacred tree) that connects the underworld, earth, and sky. The Puerto Morelos botanical garden’s former name  was Ya’axché to honor that mythic tree.
