Insider Tip: Locals know to come early on weekend nights, not just to grab the best table on the terrace, but because the house-made chimichurri is so good it sometimes runs out by the end of dinner service. Ask for an extra little dish of it with your steak... you won’t regret it! |
Portside Perspective |
From the leaning lighthouse to the vibrant coral reef, Puerto Morelos whispers stories of a simpler, more beautiful life. |
Insider Tip: Farmer's Market |
Wednesday mornings are Farmer's Market gold.
While tourists sleep in, locals know that Wednesday mornings from 8am-1pm bring the best local baked goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and gourmet coffee to the farmer's market next to the church portside.
Vendors often bring fruits and vegetables that were harvested the day before, and you'll frequently find items that aren't available in the larger supermarkets.
Arrive early for the freshest selection - the good stuff sells out fast. |
Local Matters |
Good news, Puerto Morelos!
The local government is working hard to clear abandoned vehicles from public roads, making our town even more beautiful and safer for everyone.
These old cars aren't just an eyesore; they take up valuable parking spots, make streets feel less safe, and can even block sidewalks.
By removing them, Puerto Morelos is opening up our streets, helping both drivers and walkers move around more easily.
This cleanup is happening all over town, including areas like Leona Vicario. If a car is left too long, it gets a warning, and if it's not moved, it goes to the impound lot.
Locals are already seeing a difference: less clutter, more parking, and a brighter town vibe.
It’s all about keeping Puerto Morelos the charming community we love.
If you spot an abandoned vehicle, you can help by reporting it to the local Tránsito office at 📞 998-702-4860 or through the municipal website. Read More... |
Puerto Morelos is making property purchases safer and more transparent for expats and international buyers.
The Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals has launched Siqroo, an online platform that allows users to verify the legal status of properties and check agent certifications in Quintana Roo.
Backed by state officials, Siqroo aims to stamp out fraud and rogue operators, offering peace of mind for buyers, investors, and developers.
This move is urgent—many deals in the region have lacked proper paperwork, causing major headaches and legal disputes.
With expert agents trained in the new system and over 350 already certified statewide, buyers have strong professional support.
Recent environmental protections, including a 5,000-hectare reserve, limit new land availability, boosting property values and enhancing the area’s eco-friendly appeal.
Puerto Morelos now shines as a secure, responsible option for savvy local and international investors. Read More... |
