Insider Tip: El Norte |
January can bring a few days of strong northerly winds, which locals call a "Norte." It makes the sea choppy and cools things down a bit.
When the port is closed to boats (check for the red flag!), it's the perfect day to explore the land. Visit the Jardín Botánico, explore the cenotes, or cozy up in a local coffee shop like Cafe de Amancia with a capuccino. |

Puerto Morelos is spending nearly 1 million pesos to give its beaches a fresh new look. This big investment will make the sandy shores safer and more welcoming for both travelers and locals.
Better Safety and Service
The town is fixing up the Playa Sol lifeguard tower with new railings and non-slip floors. These changes help lifeguards stay safe while they keep a close eye on people swimming in the ocean.
Visitors will also find a new mobile information booth called "Window to the Sea." This kiosk can move to different spots to help tourists find the best sights in town.
Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz says these projects help keep the town's charm while adding modern security. Better services make it easier for everyone to enjoy the beautiful Riviera Maya.
Built to Last
The most impressive part of the plan is a tall new walkway and guardhouse. It is built from strong zapote wood that can survive the harsh salt and humidity of the coast.
Special materials were chosen so the structures won't rust or rot in the ocean air. This smart planning saves the town money because the buildings will last much longer.
By investing in quality infrastructure, Puerto Morelos is proving it is a world-class vacation spot. Safe beaches and helpful guides give every traveler more confidence during their beach stay.

Big Changes for Travelers
Terminal 1 will reopen in June 2026 after being closed for a long time. This will give airlines more space and help stop crowding in other parts of the airport.
Terminal 4 is also getting more boarding gates and better roads for drivers. These updates should mean shorter lines and a much faster trip to your gate.
Why Now and What to Know
The airport is seeing a huge jump in travelers this year. Experts expect even more visitors when Mexico helps host the World Cup in 2026.
If you are flying soon, give yourself extra time to get through construction traffic. Make sure to check your airline’s website to see which terminal you need to use.
Once the work is done, flying in and out of the sun should be a total breeze! These big changes will make traveling much less stressful for everyone. Read More... |

Hi. I’m Angel.
I’m the sweet little black dog you might remember from the streets. I’ve been in foster care getting better, and I’m almost finished with my treatment. That means I’m ready for my forever home.
I’m on the smaller side, very gentle, and I walk nicely on a leash. I’m calm and polite in the house, fully house-trained, and I love to lounge around during the day. If you feel like going for a walk, I’m happy to join you too.
I’m just looking for a kind person or family to give me a safe, loving life. If that might be you, I promise I’ll be a very good girl 🐾💛
