Cenote La Noria is one of the most impressive underground cenotes on the Cenote Route, and it's ranked #2 of 43 things to do in Puerto Morelos for good reason.
This magical cenote sits approximately 18 meters deep and 47 meters wide, featuring crystal-clear water so intensely blue it seems almost unreal.
To reach it, you descend a 10-meter staircase where impressive rock formations and a slatted ceiling create an otherworldly atmosphere, and then you emerge into something truly special.
But La Noria isn't just about the cenote itself. This is a full-day adventure destination. Ride ATVs through the jungle, zip-line through the canopy, or explore on horseback.
After your adventures, refuel at the on-site restaurant with fresh tacos, seafood, and traditional Yucatecan dishes.
The staff is knowledgeable, the facilities are clean, and the whole experience feels authentically Mayan, not overly commercialized.
This is the kind of place where families create memories, couples find adventure, and solo travelers discover why they came to Mexico in the first place.

Insider Tip: Semana Santa |
Semana Santa, or Holy Week, is the most important holiday in Mexico. Starting this year on March 29th and ending with Easter Sunday April 5th, it’s a time of deep religious significance, vibrant family celebrations, and one of the busiest travel weeks of the year. |

Nature and history come together at the newly reopened Muyil archaeological site. Tucked inside a lush jungle reserve, this ancient Maya treasure is now ready for visitors to explore once again.
A Rich History
Muyil is one of the oldest Maya settlements on Mexico’s coast. People lived there for nearly 2,000 years, starting way back in 350 B.C.
In the past, the site was a busy center for trade. People used hand-made canals to move valuable items like salt and jade between the jungle and the ocean.
The most famous building is a 55-foot-tall pyramid called El Castillo. It shows off a unique building style that was influenced by ancient groups in Guatemala.
Exploring the Site
The site recently received a major cleanup as part of the Maya Train project. Experts are still working to find new structures hidden among the thick trees.
For travelers staying in Puerto Morelos, Muyil is a great way to skip the big crowds found at the Tulum ruins. The drive takes about 90 minutes and offers a peaceful look at the past.
Many visitors also explore the surrounding Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. This protected area is world-famous for its amazing wildlife and natural beauty. Read More... |
Get ready, the Mexican Caribbean is expecting over 1.2 million visitors for the Easter holidays.
With regional hotel occupancy projected at over 95%, Puerto Morelos is bracing for one of its busiest weeks of the year from March 29 to April 5, 2026.
What to Expect in Town
The town square, beaches, and local restaurants will be packed. If you haven't booked a table at your favorite spot, call ahead now.
Parking near the beach and pier will be extremely tight, so consider walking, biking, or taking a golf cart during peak hours.
Tips for a Smooth Holiday
To beat the crowds, early mornings are your best strategy. Hit the beach or schedule your snorkeling tours before 9 a.m. for a quieter experience.
Remember to book any reef tours well in advance, as spots fill up fast. Finally, expect heavy traffic on Highway 307, so plan your drives for early morning or late evening.
With a little planning, you can skip the lines and fully enjoy the festive energy of Holy Week! Read More... |
Score a piece of history before the 2026 World Cup kicks off!
Mexico is celebrating the big event by releasing three beautiful new commemorative coins for fans and collectors.
Gold, Silver, and Soccer
The Mexican Senate recently approved these special coins to mark the tournament. For the first time ever, Mexico will mint a 25-peso coin made of pure gold.
There will also be a silver 10-peso coin and a 20-peso coin made from two different metals. All three will feature Mexico's national coat of arms on the front and soccer-themed artwork on the back.
A Historic Tournament
Mexico is making history by hosting the World Cup for a record third time. Matches will be played in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara starting in June 2026.
Fans can buy these coins at authorized banks and the Mexican Mint once they are officially released. These items will likely cost more than their face value because they are rare collectibles.
Since the 2026 World Cup is such a huge event, these coins are expected to sell out very fast. Be sure to check with your bank to grab one before they are gone! Read More... |
Sargassum Report |
Puerto Morelos is turning a smelly ocean problem into a bright future for the coast. The town is building a new center to recycle sargassum seaweed into clean green energy.
Turning Seaweed Into Fuel
A major project called PODECIBI is set to open in Puerto Morelos in 2026. This industrial site will use special technology to turn messy seaweed into biomethane and other power sources.
The plan is a big team effort between Mexico and expert partners from the Netherlands. They will work on a massive 38-hectare site to turn ocean waste into something useful for the community.
Fighting the Seaweed Surge
Scientists say there are over 50 million tons of sargassum floating in the Atlantic right now. Warmer ocean temperatures and fertilizer runoff are making the seaweed grow much faster than it used to.
To prepare, officials have already placed miles of barriers in the water to protect the beaches.
The new recycling center will eventually provide local jobs and a permanent way to keep the coastline clean for years to come. Read More... |
