La Bodega Verde is one of those colonia gems that locals quietly love and visitors are thrilled to “discover.”
Tucked behind the highway on the colonia side, it has a sweet indoor/outdoor patio filled with plants, colorful chairs, and a calm vibe that makes you want to linger with a second coffee.
They focus on healthy, traditional Mexican breakfasts and freshly pressed juices.
Think chilaquiles like abuela used to make, fluffy waffles, molletes loaded with beans, cheese and bacon, enfrijoladas, bagel sandwiches, banana bread, and bakery-style desserts.
Natural fruit waters, smoothies, and good coffee drinks round it out. It’s an easy place to camp out with a book, get some work done, or just catch up with friends while the colonia goes about its day around you.
Local bonus: La Bodega Verde accepts the Puerto Discount Card, with a listed 10% discount on food, so cardholders can stretch their breakfast pesos a little further while supporting a neighborhood favorite.
What People Are Saying:
"Such a nice place to have breakfast! Great chilaquiles and latte frío con leche de coco! Amazing staff." ~ Marie G., Google review "Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Great service! Simple menu, good food and reasonable prices. Definitely on my favorites list!" ~ Gill M., Facebook review
"Great peaceful place in the Colonia. Their juices are wonderful and the breakfast is fantastic… It’s a beautiful open green space. Love going here." ~ Kerri M., Google review
"Rodrigo is an excellent chef. All the dishes are simple but delicious. He knows how to combine flavors very well. The freshly made juices are delicious." ~ Enrico P., Facebook review

👉Insider Tip: Ask for a fresh juice “al gusto” instead of just picking from the menu. Tell them what fruit you like and let them suggest a mix. Long‑time locals know they are happy to play with combinations, and you often end up with a better juice than what’s printed. |
Portside Perspective |
"The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul." |
Insider Tip: The "Wind Rule" |
The “wind rule” for swimming and snorkeling.
Once the afternoon breeze picks up and the flags go yellow or red, it’s hammock and margarita time, not swim time. |

Big news for Puerto Morelos! Federal officials are planning major road upgrades to make commutes smoother and safer for everyone.
The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) is bringing two important projects to our area. These will help with traffic, improve connections, and boost safety.
One exciting project is an overpass for Federal Highway 307 at the entrance to Bahía Petempich. This will make it much easier and safer to cross and merge onto the busy highway.
Mayor, Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, shared that the town will help make sure this important overpass gets built.
Another big plan is to widen Federal Highway 180, especially the part that goes through Leona Vicario. This will ease traffic and improve safety in that area.
The Mayor explained that some local sidewalk building was put on hold so it wouldn't get torn up later for this big road work.
These projects are a big deal for Puerto Morelos's future. They will help our town grow and make driving safer for residents and visitors. This will also help our important tourism business thrive. Read More... |

Adoptable Furry Friend |
Hi… I’m Güera 🐾 and I’m looking for my forever home.
I’m about 8 years old, a big, gentle girl, and I’m already spayed. I’m very friendly and get along great with other dogs. I love people (especially the kind ones who give me belly rubs 🥰), and I don’t bother cats at all—so I’m perfect for a family, even one with kids!
Everyone says I’m very well mannered, and my favorite thing in the whole world is lying on the grass in the garden. If you like relaxing outside, I think we’d be a perfect match.
I came here over three years ago, pregnant and a little scared, but I was taken care of and gave birth to 8 beautiful puppies. They’ve all been spayed, vaccinated, and now live with wonderful families.
That makes me so happy… and now it’s finally my turn to find a loving home of my own.
Would you like to meet me?
Send a message to my foster hooman — I’m waiting for you.
Will you be my forever family? 🏡🐶💗
