This week brings Borracho Bingo, an art exhibit opening at the museum, circus in Parque Fundadores, and more new events on the calendar.
If you live locally you've smelled it. If you've been on the FB forums you've likely heard the complaints about it. The smoke is real (we smell it too).
You will also see a small test this week with a new sponsor section, where we partner with products and services we think readers may find useful. We are also considering featured rentals, since we get a lot of questions about both short-term and long-term places to stay.

Every September, Chiles en Nogada returns to the table as one of Mexico’s most patriotic seasonal dishes.
It is colorful, rich, and tied closely to Mexico’s Independence season.
What Makes It Special
The dish is made with a roasted poblano pepper, usually filled with meat, fruit, nuts, and spices. It is covered with creamy walnut sauce, then finished with pomegranate seeds and parsley.
The green, white, and red colors echo the Mexican flag.
A Taste of History
Chiles en Nogada is most closely associated with Puebla, where it is traditionally connected to Mexico’s early Independence era.
The details of the origin story are still debated, but the dish remains one of the country’s best-known September traditions.

Several Puerto Morelos restaurants are serving Chiles en Nogada for Independence Month 2026, including El Pirata, Lola y Moya, El Refugio, El Charro, Maria Bonita, El Campanario, and El Huerto del Puerto.
