A Brighter Parque Fundadores
Municipal President Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz recently inaugurated 260 brand-new LED lights.
These lights illuminate our central Parque Fundadores and the surrounding areas. The project represents a significant investment of 3 million pesos.
This funding comes from the Fideicomiso de Administración del Derecho de Saneamiento Ambiental, known as DSA.
This trust collects an environmental sanitation fee from tourists, which is then reinvested into projects like this one. It helps improve our infrastructure and protect our natural beauty.
Part of a Bigger Plan
This lighting upgrade is a key part of the "Puerto Morelos Brilla" program.
This initiative is part of the Puerto Morelos Brilla program, which plans 1,200 new LED lights in its current phase, as part of a broader goal of reaching around 3,000 new lights across the municipality over this administration.
The goal is to modernize Puerto Morelos and enhance its urban image. Better lighting means more tranquility, security, and comfort for both residents and visitors.
This project directly addresses requests from local hoteliers, service providers, fishermen, boaters, artisans, and merchants.
Modern and Brighter
Leonel Salazar Trejo, our Secretary of Public Services, highlighted the advanced technology used.
These new LED fixtures are not only brighter but also contribute to energy savings. They are energy-efficient, which will keep costs lower.
The lighting renewal covers important areas. This includes Parque Fundadores, Ventana al Mar, and the Muelle de Pescadores, our fishing pier.
It also extends to key streets like José María Morelos with Javier Rojo Gómez and Rafael E. Melgar, between Avenida Tulum and Calle Isla Mujeres.

Javier Hernández Santillán, President of the Colegio Portomorelense de Ingenieros Civiles, praised the project.
