Puerto Morelos is getting ready for a very special weekend. It's time for Janal Pixán, the Mayan Day of the Dead.

 

This year, the "Mar de Almas" festival brings two days of tradition, beauty, and remembrance to our charming town. Get ready to experience a truly unique celebration.

 

Saturday: Boats, Souls, and Art

 

The festivities kick off on Saturday, November 1st, with a focus on decorated boats. You can see these beautiful creations and even watch the judges at work. Later, there's a boat procession from the main pier. It's a sight you won't want to miss.

 

As the evening goes on, the celebration moves to the old town square. You'll find the "Procession of Souls" and a contest for Alebrijes and Catrinas. These are amazing colorful folk art pieces.

 

 

There will also be cultural events, local dance groups, and a musical performance to end the night.

 

Sunday: Reflection and Recognition

 

Sunday, November 2nd, continues the celebration with more boat activities.

 

The boat procession starts from the main pier again. Later in the evening, there's another "Procession of Souls" in the old town square.

 

This is a time for reflection and honoring those who have passed.

 

The evening also includes a cultural event and a special message from the President. The winners of the various contests will be announced and recognized.

 

The festival wraps up with a final musical performance. It's a weekend full of community, culture, and honoring our ancestors. Come join us and be a part of this beautiful tradition.
