NASCAR Mexico is bringing its racing series to Tulum International Airport on April 25-26, 2026.
The event is called the Tulum 100, combining NASCAR Mexico Series races with the Tulum Airshow 2026, organized as part of the Feria Aeroespacial México (FAMEX).
The NASCAR Mexico Series races will include events from both the main series and the Challenge Series.
Aerial demonstrations begin April 23, with the full event including NASCAR Mexico Series races on April 25-26. Organizers are expecting more than 30,000 spectators over the course of the event.
How They're Pulling This Off
Here's the part that's genuinely impressive. A temporary concrete oval racing circuit is being built entirely within the airport's private aviation terminal area, known as the FBO zone.
Commercial flights and passenger operations will continue without interruption.
The track is being built to NASCAR specifications using FIA-grade coatings, inside an active airport perimeter. That's a serious engineering challenge, and it signals that this region can handle world-class events.
Why It Matters for the Riviera Maya
This isn't just a Tulum story. Events like this create a ripple effect across the entire Riviera Maya, including Puerto Morelos.
Hotels, restaurants, transportation services, and local vendors throughout the corridor typically see increased activity when large-scale events draw tens of thousands of visitors to the region.
The organizers specifically mentioned economic impact across the broader Mundo Maya region, with job creation in hospitality, logistics, and gastronomy. That includes communities up and down the coast.
Getting There from Puerto Morelos
Tulum International Airport sits roughly 90 kilometers south of Puerto Morelos along the 307. In normal traffic, that's about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes by car.
If you plan to go, leave early. A 30,000-person event will create congestion on the highway, especially on race days.
Two-day grandstand passes for April 25-26 are available now through official channels, starting at $2,883.76 MXN including fees.

Worth Watching
This is the third stop on the 2026 NASCAR Mexico calendar and the first time the series has raced at an airport venue in Mexico.
Whether you're a motorsports fan or just curious, it's a genuinely historic moment for the peninsula. |
