The fourth Cancún Piano Festival is returning this month, and it's worth the short drive north for music lovers.
The four-day event runs February 5-8, 2026, and offers something for everyone from serious classical music fans to curious newcomers.
What to Expect
This isn't just a series of concerts. The festival brings together professional pianists, music teachers, and young musicians for masterclasses, lectures, and performances.
The City Theater in Cancún will host most events, along with other venues around the city.
The opening night on February 5 features the "Night of Masters" concert at 7:30 p.m. This inaugural performance sets the tone for the entire festival with distinguished performers.
Events Worth Your Time
Friday, February 6 starts with a free keynote lecture at 11 a.m. at Anáhuac Cancún University. Francisco Hernández Bolaños, director of the Cancún Classical Orchestra, will discuss "Current Challenges for Concert Production."
That evening at 6:30 p.m., "The Mozarts, Family Portraits" combines music and history to explore one of classical music's most famous families. This educational recital is designed to be accessible to all audiences.
Saturday, February 7 features a masterclass with Dr. Isabel Ladrón de Guevara at Estudio Vivaldi Música starting at 10 a.m. There is a participation fee for this hands-on learning opportunity.
The evening brings pianist Miguel Lecueder from Uruguay performing "Evenings 'Crown of the Crown'" at 7:30 p.m. This concert requires a reservation due to limited seating.
Closing Day Celebrates Young Talent
Sunday, February 8 wraps up the festival with "Our Young Talents" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This day showcases emerging pianists and gives new generations a chance to share their musical growth with the community.
Planning Your Visit
Puerto Morelos is about 30 minutes south of Cancún, making the drive manageable for a day trip or evening event.
